Here is where I will try to answer some of the questions you may have because you’re writing a book report or you just want to know a little bit more about me and my books.

When did you start writing?

I started writing when I was young girl, but didn’t think of writing as a career until about ten years ago.

Were you born in Cuba?

No, I was born in a small town in North Florida. My parents were born in Cuba and because I wrote about Cuba in my first book many people think it’s an autobiography… but it’s not.

Is The Red Umbrella the story of your parents journey to the U.S.?

Not exactly. It’s loosely based on my parents’ experiences in coming to the U.S. through Operation Pedro Pan, but I also incorporated the experiences of other people that I interviewed during my research for the book.

Which one of your books is your favorite?

Each book holds a special place in my heart because each one is unique. I love The Red Umbrella because it conveys a piece of my family history, I love A Thunderous Whisper because of the message it sends about everyone being able to make a difference, and I love the Moving Target/Return Fire series because this exciting, fast-paced type of book is what I loved reading as a child (who am I kidding, its the type of book I love reading now!)

When were you born?

I was born on August 20th… we’ll keep the year secret for now.

How can I become a better writer?

READ! Read lots and lots of books! Pick up books from different genres so you can explore what you like and discover what you don’t.

What are you working on now and what is it about?

I’m always working on a new book idea, but sometimes those ideas don’t pan out so I’m a little superstitious about revealing anything that isn’t finished. You’ll just have to stay tuned to find out!
